How to install and configure oracle sql developerJanuary 22, 2016
SQL Developer is an application which is actually (user interface) UI. It does not not require installation. Just download the file from oracle website and configure it. Follow the given steps below.
First download oracle sql developer from oracle store visit http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/sqldev-downloads-v401-2197034.html . After downloading sql developer right click on zip folder and click extract here. Now follow the given steps below.
Requirements Before using sql developers 4.0.1
- Latest version of JDK.
- Oracle 10 g must be installed on the system.
There is no installer for this software. Simply launch the sql developer executable file inside the folder which are given in the picture below.
When you launch sqldeveloper you will ask to locate your JDK installed on the system. Simply browse the jdk in C/Program files/Java/jdk18.104.22.168 and click ok.
The first time you launch sql developer it will ask you to include certain file types click cancel or OK. Now sql developer will look like this.
Now to create connection click the plus button on left side as shown in the picture below.
To create connection you have to enter connection Name as you like. In the picture below I used abid as connection name you can use whatever you want like John, Steve, Ali etc. The default user name is system and password you must enter the password that you have entered during installation of oracle 10 g on your system. In Hostname you can use IP address or localhost in this case. The default port number is 1521. In SID you can use orcl and xe also. Now click Test. If you entered correct details then connection will be established and you will see Status: Success on left side just above Help button as shown in this picture. Remember you must enter the password that you had entered during installation of oracle 10g on your system.
